Agree that it is cheaper in the long run to but one in better nick, but a good entry level car for those that have the time, want to learn some skills, gain some personal satisfaction and enter at a low entry level :spoton: At the end of the day this car will appreciate in value over time. Hope it gets restored rather than parted.

I know a guy who had an SL/R about 20 years ago. He was doing circlework on the beach 1 day, lost it and put it into the surf.
I wonder if this was the car?
He did sell it quickly after that.
It was nick named the "PIRAHNA" after that.
He ripped the seats and the carpet out of the car to dry it out, then drove it
4 hours home just sitting on a box.
The cop at the random breath testing station couldn't believe his eyes when the SL/R was pulled over, he just said to him "I don't want to know....keep driving!"....ha ha :D

A bit off topic I know, but who knows...it could be that car.

hahahaha comments that hilarious are more than welcome :spoton:

I'm pretty much agreeing with what everyone is saying now, so I can stop arguing with people :D

Theoretically, I would prefer it every GTR, XU-1, L31 or L34 in a state of disrepair was just bought by some rich bastard and stored in a dry place for thirty years, then sold for double the price, because in thirty years time, no one will wreck any of those vehicles. They will be too sought after to wreck.

I hate seeing any Torana go to waste, especially these rare models that everyone wants their hands on... Man I'd love to have an L31 SS hatch sitting in a paddock 200kms away waiting for me to get good enough to restore it. And I don't generally consider myself an originality freak or anything.

^ lol some friends of mine were telling me an XU-1 got the boat stuck to the trailer it was carrying on the launching ramp. The XU-1 driver said "I'll roll it back and drop the clutch and floor it to get the boat free". Rolled it back, floored it too late, bagged up the rear wheels and slid into the water :o

...don't know what happened after that

Stupid.

Considering that the ramp was probably wet, creating NO traction... Braking wouldve been a better option.

There was an old lady that put her car into te drink at Cowell last year... the trailer started to jacknife a bit, so she went for the brake and hit the accelorator. trailer went up the tyres on the side of the ramp, and the brand new patrol went in the drink. She managed to get out, but we had to call get couple of guys with SCUBA gear to put a tow rope onto the car.. and it took 2 tractors to pull it up...
