are there any problems with interchanging pistons to rods?

i have heard that pressing them out can cause the piston to warp.

is this the case?

at the moment both pistons are on rods and are 2nd hand.

thanks!

THere's no guarantee that when they are pressed off the pin won't gall in the piston, or distort the piston as its pressed off...

If they're both second hand you'd want to have at least one set of REALLY good rods and equally impressive pistons to make it a consideration... If its just std gear I'd not waste the time really.

heat some oil and leave the rods and pistons in it until they are nice and hot...then press them out...I have used this method a few times and never had a problem.

the "better" pistons are on a set of standard rods, and the "not as good" pistons are on blue rods. (better pistons are ACL duralite 2, not as good are ACL duralite 1) i would rather have this combo, but just didnt want to damage any of the pistons.

Fast Eh, what did u use to press it off? did u do this at home, or in a workshop with all the right gear?

thanks!

We have a little mechanical press at work..I used sockets.

You can use socket and a long bolt to pull the pin out if you have nothing else.
