Long Term Projects

My project hatch started in 1999 and went from 1 disaster to another, 3 hatchbacks, change of career, a move from Gold Coast to Brisbane, getting stuffed around by a lot of people, the project was on the way.
The engine had been built for a number of years before it ever made it in the car.
Most of the interior was done, exhaust system was made (much to the annoyance of my neighbours) and other bits and pieces.
I got sick of people asking "when will the hatch be finished" so the "Dust Collection club" started, first off with Tiny & I as we were having a friendly race as to who will get their car finished first. ha ha ha
Anyway back in 2000 I put a date on the build saying 2010 will be when it is finished. That gave me 10 years to get it completely finished the way I wanted, instead of doing it in a few stages to get to the final product.
At the moment the car isnt a priority for me and I lack motorvation in doing anything with it so it sits on stands and under covers in the carport.
Maybe if I have a garage and when the kids move out ... Hang on that could be another 5 - 10 years
So, who has the longest project on the go?

Until you add them up I guess
Datsun coupe orange......... 9 yrs
Datsun coupe white...........8 yrs
Racecar....... probably doesn't count cause it goes now...... 4 yrs
SS hatch......... 2 yrs
LJ coupe ......... 8 yrs (only a few weeks in my possession though)
Not to mention the other 3 cars gathering dust in the collection.
Though Howard has had his since 1976 and its not finished yet.

Looks a lot better, but it's pretty much the same LOL
I knew that the first year or two would be mainly collecting parts (considering my lack of funding and experience), and that's exactly how it's been. It won't look that neat for long though. Bodywork starts soon.

I've started & nearly finished quite a few cars which ended up getting sold for prices I couldn't refuse, would have been nice to have driven them once finished though.(lx slr replica,1 l31 slr & 2 l2o slr's,vk sl grp a & a few hsv's.)
The gtr has been on/off the road since the mid 90's,it's nearly halfway through it's 2nd rebuild but priorities come before it such as family, work & house.
rodomo,I thought I was bad lol.

off the road about october i think
moved house 3 times, grew three daughters, ran a buisness
complete strip and paint top and bottom
all bushes and bearings, brakes replaced with new
all new rubbers
new radiator and heater core
drivers floor replaced( that was the only rust)
full rebuild of the engine(luckily i alredy had webers + y/t bathurst 1200
started the engine 2 weeks ago(most impressed when it started first time
all i need now is a new windscreen, shocks, exhaust
the interior has been replaced
( and i think itll get a couple more coats of paint ( a tree branch fell on it once)
unfortunately ive run out of spare cash (again)
so itl probly be going about feb next year
at least taking so long every thing is a1
as soon as i think to myself thats good enough
i go and do something else then come back and fix it right
for what its worth i have had dreams of this car
usually im driving it around without reg and doging the cops

Cash flow problem sorted. Saved a packet and bought a Hatch which I spent an insane amount on before tipping it over and totaling it. The unfinished hatch is the donor for all the go fast goodies that are ok.
Now have a House and morgage and starting a family so the 7 years now will turn into a very long time as funds for cars are low atm. Will have to learn how to paint and repair myself.
7 years and counting
