[I'm a Red Motor fiend]

Howdy all, there hasn't been anywhere near enough Holden 6 goodness on here lately for us tragics so thought I'd start a thread covering my latest build.

Kept munching bearings in the old block so I cracked the shits, binned it and am starting afresh.

Had a 40thou over QL prefix red laying around so had it sonic tested - going to 60thou will be a little thin in a couple of bores front side but is usable.

Went round and saw the master Tony Knight and the build begins.

Red cranked, 9 port, 2" SU fed.

The crank after TK finished with it. Snout drilled for balancer bolt (Romac) flange drilled for flywheel dowells (Yella Terra 8.6kg)

Block was pretty rusty inside so it got a molasses bath.

will be running ACL Race Series pistons, Blue Motor rods ARP bolts, main and headstuds. Race Series bearings all the usual stuff inside.

what else are you doing to the engine and car?what are your goals at the drags?

Red crank is much lighter, picks up rpm quicker. Plenty strong in an NA application like this.
Blue cranks are good for boosted engines.

You’ll run a lightened flywheel, maybe blue one?

Flywheel is Yella Terra billet 8.6kg.

Cylinders have now been bored.
Grout ground for water pump impeller clearance.

Yeah Tony reconditioned my head for this build a while back.
Got it flowing better. Flows enough to support 300hp which he seems to think we may crack on the dyno in the very near future.

That windage tray looks like a good fit.  Is there an easy way to get one without ending up with a whole motor though??
