Hi. I'm just wondering what those people that have converted their hatch from manual to auto have used for the console gear selector insert, other than sourcing an original. The inserts from the sedan models are a bit wider and don't fit. Thanks in advance. Cheers Ron

Not quite the same thing but if you were looking at making one you can get quite a reasonable effect with wrinkle black paint, the flat part of this piece is painted aluminium and the shaped piece is 3D printed ABS.
Wouldn't be hard to chop the indicator assembly out from a sedan or early Commodore insert and glue it under a custom surround with a window cut into it.

Nice stuff. I've seen some of your work and I can confidently say I'm not up to that standard lol. I have an old H series insert and I think I might have a try with that to see if I can do some sort of cut and shut to make it fit without having to rejig the needle and globe section. If that is reasonably successful then I might buy a new one and get a plastic welder to do the same for me. Interestingly I called the mob in Sydney that make a whole console but they only do manual not auto. Cheers Ron

Those that don't already know, I am a dick. If you fit the insert from underneath (sort of) with a bit of fiddling, it fits. I didn't think the General would have made a special insert just for the hatch console. Cheers Ron
