hi i was wondering how i can tell if i have a stock oil pump on my 186 or if it is a high volume one, my bro said look for the part number but all i could find was a big 4.
anyu help would be great

They usually have JP or HV cast into the body on the underside on the body...this applies to JP ones..which are probably the most common High volume pump.
Just as an aside..you do not need a High volume pump unless you have enlarged the oil galleries inside the motor. A high vol pump on a stock engine spends most of its time by passing and dumping oil.

its not stock though, an just wondering if this is ture or not...i was told when putting my oil pump back in that it has to be lined up with the cam or something like that.

no you don't need to time your oil pump.
even on a worked engine you only need a stock pump...unless you have done something that warrants extra oil...like drilling out oil galleries.

Or an external filter setup/oil cooler may warrant the larger capacity oil pump.
