Hi.

I want to add aircon to a non aircon LX  and looking at aftermarket. Anyone know or recommend Autoware aircon/heater?

Any other recommendations?

I am trying to get something that works well and bonus if it is mostly hidden.

Now that’s an aircon! Great install. that’s several beers worth to read that.

Does anyone know how well they cool and heat?

Hi, I believe vintage air to be a good set up and you can put most of the gear under your dash so it can be hidden, my friend who is an auto electrician uses them a lot. I’m using an under dash unit in mine and then a standard vt compressor and an aftermarket condenser. But this is just an opinion. Cheers.

Hi Brad. I think you will find those Hurricane units from Autoware are actually Old Air Products units out of the US.  I have put the universal one in my hatch and it wasn't fun.  First thing to remember is that all (I think) US units have the plumbing on the right hand side, as you look at them and either exit on the side or the rear so you need to ascertain where you are going to bring them through the firewall and/or how you are going to plumb them internally. I still haven't mounted the compressor but that is a different issue (was promised a front mounting plate that also incorporated the alternator would be coming from a fabricator but that hasn't eventuated). Also the condensor would not sit completely upright under the dash so had to mount it on a slight lean.  I am just now looking at how much I will have to butcher the console to get that to fit, and you can forget about a radio, unless maybe a mechless one.  Cheers Ron

The condenser sits in front of the radiator, it's the evaporator that does the cooling & sits under (or behind) the dash.

Just saying'.

Thanks. Rang Rohan in Echuca and he has a complete system to suit and will do the job no worries.

Still checking other options to compare before buying
