sorting through spares and LH/LX tail lights, some have aluminium backing and others are plastic. Were they different by model or year? Or some other reason.

As far as I am aware the alloy ones were LH and then plastic on LX

Thanks, I'll endeavor to use the right ones in my restorations. I'm cutting down on the parts stored, only keeping enough for my projects.

It's been a while since I looked but you used to be only able to buy repro lenses for one type and not the other (can't remember which) so that might be worth checking out before you get rid of the old alloy buckets?
