As some of you will know, Australia is about to run out of Adblue.
Given how much some people hate emissions stuff I would assume there are some workarounds already known?
Substitute fluid or sensor electronic bypasses?

Urine contains Urea, just piss in the bottle with the blue cap.

3 parts urea and 5 parts demineralised water
Alternative product is Clearnox
Unfortunately Clearnox relies on Urea in it's formulation so if China is tightening it's sphincter and limiting the export of Urea to global markets it won't matter what brand the additive is it will be hard to get the Urea to manufacture it.

ad blue ( trade marked) and ALL other products marketed as diesel exhaust fluid are all 32.5 % urea and water . What constitutes normal grade urea i have no idea

Ad Blue cuts diesel emissions. How? I dunno? The big question here is who supplies it and how are they extracting it?
Posted 11 December 2021 - 11:29 PM
The requirement for it seems inconsistent to me. My old 2002 Patrol doesn't need it, and neither does my Bride's 2018 3L BMW X3.So what dictates where it's used? Modern MB diesels seem to need it more than the other Euro brands. No adblue needed on our AMG run today.
Most diesels with a particulate filter in the exhaust don't need adblue. In fact, I wasn't aware of any small commercials that used it. Only trucks.

I dunno either, but it is urea, which is ammonium nitrate. The cost of fertiliser for cropping has gone from $750 / ton in Feb '21 to $1,300 / ton now. The Chinese didn't like our government wanting an enquiry into the origin of Covid and now we are paying the price. (Literally) They also still have massive tariffs on our wine and barley. And have a guess at which country makes the most computer chips. Taiwan. (China) Go into any electronics store and ask what the lead time is on a new Playstation, or Furuno sounder, or aftermarket stereo for a 200 series Landcruiser........... or a Landcruiser.

Zero time? I picked up a PS5 Wednesday....ask what the lead time is on a new Playstation...

Old stock? They seem to be in short supply over here. I guess the fly in / fly out people have nothing better to do on there 2 weeks off every two weeks.

CSIRO has been asked to develop a solution.
Sourcing the urea is a problem with no overseas supply available.

No, straight off the trolley as it's wheeled into the shop.Old stock?

The urea produced in Australia isn't pure enough, and this country doesn't have the expertise to manufacture the synthesized version, or the workforce to produce it cheap enough. China and Russia do though.
The trucking industry leaders are saying that Adblue will run out by the end of January. Without trucks, Australia stops. Start buying up toilet paper city people.
The federal government on the other hand is saying that things will be fine and keep doing things as normal. Why then, have they also put out a press release warning trucking companies to not re-map the computers in their trucks so they can run without Adblue. ($20,000 fine) And why has the price in Perth gone from a dollar a litre to well over two dollars??? The engines will run fine without it by the way. The only reason the truck goes into limp home mode if you run out is because a sensor in the exhaust picks up the extra nitrogen oxide gas and decides there and then that saving the Lesser Three Eyed Potbellied Horny Toad is more important than getting peoples food to their tables.

1980 John Deere 850 dozer Clay. They were way ahead of their time using hydrostatic motors to drive the tracks. No steering clutches so your hands are always free to operate the blade. The pic is when I bought it in 2019.
The low loader is a bit of a pain with a tare weight of 10.6 tons. It was built for the army to carry around their tanks.

Urea [CO(NH2)2] is a soluble organic compound containing 46% nitrogen. It occurs naturally in urine and some moulds and fungi.

when, not if, push comes to shove, the Gov will have to bend over as kids wont be able to get to school either. It effects buses as well.

Council buses are likely equipped with a switch to disable adblue.
