I was spewing I couldn't get out there today, but I agree with you mate, until you see it in the flesh, you havent seen it at all... I've seen the top fuelers only once in real life and it's something you never, ever forget! haha.

have to agree aswell, nothing like a few thousand horsepower unleashed, blasting to 500km p/h in 4 seconds, but have you seen jet cars, these things are right up there too, especially staging, you never seen anything like it. i say bring back the jet cars.

jet cars are nothing compared to top fuel, they just arent designed for a 1/4 mile.
i was really disapointed by them when i saw them at calder nationals years ago.

top fuel is beyond racing,it matters not how fast they go or what mph they run,the experience is mind numbing regardless.
even people who couldnt care less about cars love watching them ;)

Yes I also totally agree. I went to the nitro champs in May this year and nothing prepared me for the top fuelers first run. It scared the shit out of me, i must have jumped like a foot off my chair. I had been warned by a friend that it will scare the shit out of ya and all the newbies jump, which i did.

It's awesome for us as spectators being like 50meters away just imagine being in the drivers seat, the acceleration is phenomal.??lol

During a run one of the top fuelers had tyre shake 1/2 of the way down and had to pedal it to regain contol. I found it quite amazing how the thundering noise/vibration stopped for a split second, then started again when he re applied throttle and he was about 200metres away.

Yes they have to replace the clutch and probably many other parts each run, NOT cheap.

How were the doorslammers they weren't dragin when i went but Victor Bray had his for burnouts, untill he snapped his supercharger belt. (I think)

Youngy, Victor Bray probably had his Burnout car for the burnouts... The Drag car doesnt have much of a cooling system, and only carries enough fuel for a 1/4 mile...

Ive always wanted to see these rigs in action.

I have seen top fuelers but what i remember most was a rocket powered car at surfers when i was a kid , a trike did something like a 4.7 and had chutes out at half track those were the days when it was manaro verses Gt falcon heaps of them race after race , the noise from that rocket scared the shit out of everybody and the flames , and the smell of hydrogen peroxide ?? cant remember if thats what it was , they aimed it and cleared every one away and fired it and all you saw was a ball of fire and chutes appear at half track , I beleive it ran off the track in america ,couldnt stop and was destroyed , And the days off fire burnoutsas a kid they were spectacular , TREX

Ahh yes.. the smell of nitro.. the FEEL of an estimated 7000 Hp of pushrod muscle... What more can you ask for!!

Phill read, Jim's son ran australia's quickest AND fastest pass last night..

I think the numbers read 4.616 @ 324 Mph... 525 odd Kph... Not bad for a standing start 400M....

The car simply was on a mission and ran straight around all the competition... especially those who coudlnt keep teh conrods inside the engine

It was unreal to see Aaron Hambridge make it into his first ever final round after winning his 2 eliminators, only to kick the rods out at the end of the final eliminator, handing the win to debbie reed... Aaron is the Driver of my engine builder'sfront engined slingshot.

Probably the "BEST" part of teh day was The Trick and Mansweto Capri launching hard off the line and breaking the wheelie bars to stand right up on the rear bumper with all 4 wheels a GOOD foot in the air and carried for 5 or so meters!! the video replay was awesome!!!

Ahhh but the joys of top fuel.. I was glad to get my fix! And it was great to catch up with LX406 and his mate who were up for the weekend!

Cheers!

I remember seeing em down at Calder some years ago now when I was only a little tacker. Totally unreal, as everyone has said, the noise and feeling the HP. Great stuff, I'm looking foward to being able to watch it at Calder again some day!

Sounds like a good clip for the T&M capri Tiny, I can't wait for that one to pop up somewhere to download.

Heres another one from behind, apparently the throttle got stuck, thats why it only ran an 11.1, it hit the limiter in first gear and then got shut down.

YEEHAAAWWW! That was incredible, he actually got airborne there with the bounce from the wheelie bars. Would be a frightening ride. Great snap there to LX406!

He ran the car next round of racing with bent wheelie bars but was a bit easier on the throttle.
