I was six, and I can remember seeing HK Monaros and LC GTRS , and thinking one day I’m going to get one of them. They reminded me of matchbox cars.Never got the HK and always wanted a white LCXU1.Not to be.

I bought my first torana 46 years ago this week end.
1971 LC Sebring orange GTR.
Bought from a seller in Malvern for $2350 including RWC.
Happy memories of a proud 19 year old ripping up the streets.

It has been 4 days and you have only posted it here?

Put it on ebay or facebook and you will get far greater exposure... but the price you get may have you forgetting about finding its original home :)

Hey Dave,

I bought my first Torana 46 years ago in 9 days, on my 19th birthday!

It was a 1973 LJ Sable (Silver) Met GTR.

Bought from the original owner in the Blackburn area from memory for $3100 inc RWC.

Also lots of happy memories- car had just short of 500K miles on it when I parked it in 1995. Sold it to a friend in 2009 and happy to say it still exists, fully restored now - and she still has the original advert for it that I kept out of The Age :-)

7438296 is just a standard 161 head. They all have H cast into them.

I bought a complete 161 for $150, apparently a runner. It was HR date coded though. Virtually new pacemaker extractors, 253 WW Stromberg, HR 186S inlet, cast impeller water pump, EH sump, trimatic flex plate, points distributor, GT 40 coil, chrome rocker cover. Sold the extractors, carb, manifold, dizzy, coil, rocker cover, and sump and now the short is using up my engine stand. If someone doesn’t buy it soon I will have to take the crank and rods and send the block to scrap. So far the head owes me negative $550.
