Hi all. Just came across this low mount bracket from Autoware in QLD and was wondering if anyone has used it and if so any reviews comments etc.  I know they have fitted one up to a hatch according to their web site but unsure what/if anything needed to be modified.  Cheers Ron

I reckon the idler wheel should be above the belt to give it more grip on the crank pulley and the compressor

Cheers

Thanks Rob. I was thinking that as well. I think there is a bit of movement up and down so that may be ok to do.  I can't see any photos with extractors and wondering if that may be an issue.  Also it comes with an oil filter and oil pressure sender attachment so not sure if these are mods that need to be made.  I will call them tomorrow but keen if anyone has been down this road before me. Cheers Ron

I've put AC & PS in my own cars. I didn't like the high mounted AC units I've seen on other car owners engine bays so I started looking at how to mount the compressor low. My first install, I used a Torana alternator bracket, flipped it over & worked everything out from there.

The pics below is another set up I did using plates & spacers. I worked everything out on the engine stand. I Initially ran 3 V belts but found the aftermarket automotive belts weren't lasting so I went to using a long single 'ride on mower' belt to drive the AC&PS. Without getting into details, the photos can show a lot.

Thanks Ando.  I did like your first install with the alt. bracket but unfortunately I don't have the skills or tools to make my own.  What compressor are you running. It looks a bit shorter then mine. I did have someone that was going to make up a face plate, brackets etc to incorporate all but then he said he wasn't doing it (and he makes/sells certain brackets along this line) so you can appreciate I wasn't happy, given I had created all the holes in the firewall etc to run the lines.  Cheers Ron

Ron, I use the Sanden SD5H09. The oil sender will need a 90 degree elbow on the standard oil pump or a 45 degree elbow on a a cast HV pump.

I used the original VN-VS pump bracket to mount the compressor low on the drivers side. Changed the drive belt system to serpentine belt for low noise, better grip & durability. Wasn't hard to get it to all line up. Used  SBC 350 serpentine pulleys which all lined up just had to drill the crank pulley bolt holes. Power steering pump mounted on drivers side above AC compressor.

Thanks gents. Those instructions are great Neil. I just have a problem where it starts to mention you have to machine down the pump boss by 30mm.  I wonder if that needs to be done with every set-up or just if you are running standard pulleys. I've attached some photos of my pulleys and I would have thought that all I need to do was space out the compressor to line up with the other  pulleys.

Ando thanks for that. I need to try and find mine now to compare models but pretty sure mine is longer so may have to ditch that, we will see.

Axistr I like your set-up but not keen to re-jig my set-up at this stage, also you can see from the photo of the holes in the firewall I am committed to passenger side.

Turn your through firewall plate upside down.

Short extensions on the heater hoses.

Right angle connectors on the aircon hoses.

Run aircon hoses across the back of the engine.

Just another option that would work.

Cheers

Hi Rob. Unfortunately all the plumbing has been fitted up in the cabin so would be difficult to have to redo that.  Also there isn't a lot of room between the engine and the firewall. Cheers Ron

I just spoke with Autoware and they tell me the system was designed for v pulley system and won't work with serpentine.  I'm not mechanically minded but that seems strange to me.  Anyway I will wait until something else comes along. Cheers Ron
