What Torana club in Victoria should I join? I understand I need to join a club to get historic rego but it would be good to get involved with a club anyway.

Do any of the clubs do organised track or quarter mile days? Or is it mainly show and shine, etc.

You could Join the ASMF , and not have all the inner club politics too.
You would still be entitled to the historic rego. You would have to abide by your states guidlines.

I'm pretty out of the loop because I've got a good group of friends and we just organise our own events mostly, but I'll try to share what I do know in-case no one has any better suggestions. I'm in the Toyota Car Club or Victoria as well. They do run some driving events and excellent shows, but unless you're into Jap stuff as well, like I am, they probably aren't a great fit.

There's the Victorian Torana Club which I imagine still operates (Eastern suburbs). I also imagine there are some members on here, although I can't think of anyone I know who's into Toranas who is still involved with the club.

I was a member & committee member for ~5 years or so and at that time there were no driving events that the club organised back then. Some cruises and car shows. That may have changed but I doubt it.

Groups of Torana people don't normally do anything fun with their cars. Even Toranafest has literally no driving events, and I think that Toranas on the Murray thing is the same. Snore!

There's a club called Eastside Cruisers who run a skidpan day and maybe go to the drag strip a few times each year? I know a few people in that club and they're a good bunch. Also Eastern suburbs based. I don't know any clubs in the West, sorry.

There are a large number of big and small "clubs" which don't operate as traditional clubs, like Phoenix etc. and they exist purely for club rego scheme access, then you go and do your own networking and find your own non-club type events to attend. I don't know what "Melbourne Old School Cruisers" offer, but they are some kind of sizeable institution; you may want to check them out. Also South-Eastern suburbs based, sorry.

I do wonder if there are some more motorsport-based clubs that are not make-specific that may suit you better? Every club worth their salt would offer the club permit thing. I used to do attend some events like motorkhanas with the Ford Fours club, sprints with the Maserati club, you'd have to see whether they give a shit about makes. The Porsche club (PCV) runs amazing sporting stuff but they are mega strict on being Porsche-specific.
