I have fitted new top and bottom control arms from macdonald bros racing and the top of the tyre is angled out on both tyres. Its an LJ torana I have at least 20mm of shims in so far and still its bad.Im new to this so any help would be appreciated.

I'd be talking to MacDonald Bros about that. 20mm of shims is shitloads.

 

Sounds like what they have sent you is the problem.

I don't have an LJ manual, but the LH one says to not exceed half an inch (12.7mm) with the shim stack.

 

I just noticed that you joined in 2005 Heath. You must have been about ten years old!!!  :)

Have you wound in the lower ca's rod ends right in to bring the track in.what is the track width from middle of tyre to middle of tyre contact patch.

Same issue with there upper arms on lh-lx.
They recommended spacing it out, can take some of the gap with a machined thick wall tube.
In some cases, can modify the arm a little, shorten the length up.

I know they know about that problem with lh/lx, these are made on a common platform, used not just for torana’s, other early holdens too.

I spoke with Macdonald bros today and they are making a new set of upper arms for me which they will send by air asap.The after sale service has been excellent.

Good stuff.

Sounds like someone should cut your upper arms apart and turn them into a nice shorter pair with the balljoint offset a little.

I guess you have to send them back? Haha.
