Hi
To do my rack I removed it form the car.
Remove the pinion shaft and bearings, drill, out the pin that locks the tie rod end nut.
Remove the tie rod, Bush end only
Remove the rack
Remove and replace the bush
Reinstall the rack
Reinstall the pinion and bearings after checking the preload and adjust the shims if needed.
Adjust the tie rod and drill a new hole for the lock pin
Fit the 1st boot
Fill with the correct amount of oil and fit the 2nd boot
I will try to find the book and post a copy of the how to if you like, not a hard job with a little practice but it is one that needs to be done right.
Interestingly my uc was missing the bush. With less than 69 000 Kms on it when I got it and with no sine of the tie rod ever being removed I suspect it may have never been installed. It passed inspection after I put the stroker in it I but was never quite happy with the steering so I rebuilt the rack and found the bush missing.
