Hi all,i need a bit of advice here.I put the original GTR springs back in the car but somehow it seems to sit  high,Is there a difference in springs from front to back? Was awhile ago I installed them can’t imagine I put them in wrong ,anythings possible. They haven’t been re tempered.

If I had to replace them can anyone suggest suitable springs maybe slightly lowered that won’t make the tyres hit the guard (they were originally rolled and took time to un roll them) I just want some that makes the car sit nice ,without affecting 404 concession.Ta Paul.

Arent the spring shapes different they surely couldn't go in ass about from front to rear.

The bottom tail of the front spring sits againts the pressing in the LCA, is that sitting right and not contributing to a higher ride height look at front.

Hi Paul,

Looks nice.

I dont think you can put the rear ones in "wrong".

the front ones need to have the end of the spring coil line up with the divet in the lower control arm ( as you prob. already know).

Regarding replacement springs, I think Lovells and Pedders still do them, but unfortunately I hear that Kings no longer offer the "send us the details of the spring you want, and we will make it" service.

Kings still do offer the KHFL-08 and KHRL -09 ( front and rear lowered ) springs I understand.

Pics to follow.

From Lj parts cat, the 4 cyl suspension image as example has a clear view of spring tail and pressed shoulder in LCA, the 6 cyl rear spring shape is different to front.

Paul, what shocks are you running? I could probably find them in your build thread but I'm too lazy to look ATM.  :)

Looks like it's ready to tackle the Simpson desert.

If you like the spring rates, you could get the rears re-set an inch lower and cut maybe 3/4" of free length off the fronts?

Been awhile since I used gas shocks but I do recall they can raise the height a bit but probably not to the extent of your photo. My car visually appears to sit low in the bum as per the car photo from Rallyred and it has the original springs and Koni Classic oil shocks. I tried to sit a steel ruler level with the top of my rear tyre/mudgeard lip but the top of the tyre sits about 10mm up inside the guard so couldn't measure that distance.

Spot on Mark, esp the relatively light rear end on the LC/LJ.

Did you tighten all the front end bolts/nuts after engine in so you don't bind up on the bushes?

Thanks for the replies fellas ,so did some quick measurements, passenger front 320 ,drivers front 310,passenger rear 310 ,drivers rear 300,The springs are sitting right Jaso.

Ive got Monroe shockeis all round Dave.I’ve done all the tiightening and nipping up ,the only thing left to do is a decent wheel alignment because I took all the shims out for zincing and not back in order.

your car sits nice Col, that’s what I’m after. It’s got to be the springs as they are original GTR ones ,but I’m sure it sat better than that before resto.Sorry about picture quality.

Seems there’s only 10 mm give or take in them.

Thinking of purchasing these, will lower the car by 30-35mm ,I have 205 tyres, any ideas if they will hit the top of the guard? and could it effect 404 concessional license ?

These are the springs I first put in LJ. I’ve got 30mm lower written on them. They were too high for me so I went next stage lower. These should be ok for you Paul. I’m going to use them in Sally’s LC.
