Hi guys I’m new here
I’m in the process of converting the engine in my 1973 Mercedes to a Holden 6 and this place looks like a great source of engine information.

This is what I have so far:
I had a rusted farm hack that had a Holden six put in it ages ago so stripped it of all the conversion bits and scrapped the rest.
Complete 3.3 black motor/trimatic from a vk commodore, tossing the injection and running a carby, motor is healthy and the box was reconditioned 400kms ago.
Also a 9 port Yella Terra head with bigger valves and some port work, Pro Street Roller Rockers, arp head studs, big cam.
Induction via a Redline 4bbl manifold with Holley 600 carby. Nitrous plate going to run a small shot of nitrous when I take it out for fun.

Thanks

Ron

If the VK EFI engine is good, leave it alone. Just run a carby and use as is. They already have a decent cam and the heads are OK. The Trimatic behind it will work with your other conversion donor stuff, just watch the shift mechanism as the VK will shift on the left side whereas the other one could be either side depending on its origins. The speedo drive gear in the EFI box might be different to what the rusty car’s box has as well.

Make sure you use the coil with the VK engine too, and make sure it gets 12V. The donor car may have a 9V coil if it is a red engine and not sure what a 1973 Merc had.

600 Holley will be too big. Look for a 390.

Hi guys, a bit of an update.

Things have changed a little.

Single carburetor is gone and now going triple 1 3/4 inch SU's.

Head is race prepped as is the gearbox with a 2800 stall converter.

That head is going to need a healthy cam to get the most out of it. Do you want to sell the injection manifold? (I thought the injected motors were red?)

Only the inlet and tappet cover I think. Hang on, got one under a bonnet somewhere.

Yeah mate I was going to sell it, make an offer and it's yours.
I'm running a healthy cam it's going to be obnoxious to drive.

If you are driving past a Pack and Send or TNT couriers or any of them really, drop in if you have time to find out what freight would be to Perth.
