On a Holden Z trim is black/orange houndstooth cloth insert so Torana might be the same. Having said that black/white houndstooth is Y in a Holden and W in a Torana so possibly Z is something else.

40 is black vinyl.

Z is that on a Holden in HQ, it is the black/orange in HG. That PSN places that LC around mid-february 1970 so never expected HQ trim that early.

Also just noticed that LC Torana did use the same codes as Holden during HT - it used X and Y but changed to V, L and W with the release of HG Holden. So not sure why they used the HQ's Z code when it was still black/orange through HT and HG - but used L trim for the black/orange insert. Wierd!

That GTR was completed on 25/02/1970.

According to Torana Tough, LC 82911 trim code 40Z was introduced at HG release July 1970.

Yes, the PSN was for mid February 1970.

Very strange that they'd use that trim and make it available on LC with HG release yet it was never available on HG. Thinking outside the box, there was never meant to be a HG anyway, it was simply done as HQ was delayed and they didn't want to run HT for a really long time. So the use of the HQ's trim was probably already locked in for LC so they did it earlier.

It was, it was a Blackwatch Green metallic GTS350 with a black vinyl roof and Z trim. It was very faded though, looked like dirty white in some areas. When you looked in the hidden areas it was very green.

I just checked this up and it looks like I was correct originally.

40Z is black vinyl with Sebring Orange and black houndstooth in LC pre mid 1970 HG release. This aligns with HT 10Z.

When HG comes around the 10Z code remained, but the Z was then Indy Orange and black houndstooth. As LC was continuing, they had to change the trim to 40L as the orange was different.

So as I suspected there was never black and green houndstooth until HQ.

Another vaugity in Torana Tough. Will amend my database to reflect the above info. Thanks Byron.
