Lots of stalls but heaps more non-car cr@p than usual.

I picked up bugger all. A blue Quadrajet and a HK 307/327 dizzy for $50 for the two and a HZ 5.0L distributor for $10. Plus a TX Gemini parts catalogue for $15.

Not much else worth having that I saw. There was a 179 head complete with rockers with big valves and inlet posts replaced with steel sleeves for $200 but not worth lugging back to the car. Lots of 6cyl grey and red performance stuff like 186S and 4BBL intakes etc but way too much $ even if you wanted it. Some bloke had $800 on a rusty HK-HT 307 sump. Another had a clapped-out HJ canister era Quadrajet for $250. I saw one thing I haven't seen at a swap meet for a long time - a HQ-HJ coupe door! Very rusty though.

Agree...lots of, essentially junk.
Only thing that caught my eye was a 3.36 banjo. $200. But I got a coffee for $4.50 instead.

Not just junk car stuff like Ford or Jap stuff. But proper junk. like old Tupperware, cutlery and garbage like that, that really belongs at the tip. What idiot pays $5 to go to a swap meet and buys $1 worth of 50-year-old butter knives?

There was some good stuff but way too pricey for a swap meet. Most of the good stuff I saw was for old Holdens like EH, very little decent stuff for any modern Holden gear (HQ onwards). Plenty of more current stuff like VZ/VE etc but those things are still parked on the sides of roads so not sure how much $ it'd pull at a swap meet.

Interesting things swapmeets.
Happened to be standing next to a few blokes, dirty old workshirts, tracky's, only a few teeth...their conversation was around how wrong the 3+ million dollar super tax changes were?
Never know I guess...

Well who would have thought the .5% of the Australian population with $3mill or more in their superannuation would garner such sympathy from those peeps.

No sympathy from me though.

The prices people ask for stuff maybe some of those blokes have that much!

It isn't law yet, won't be until after the next election. And the Greens and the Coalition don't support it. So it can't happen with the Senate that is there now. It needs more detail before anyone will get serious about it. Like how it applies to defined benefits pensions. How it will be indexed. Plus, more. This is just a political thought bubble thrown out there for people to get used to the idea.

Lucky them if they are but I know one thing for sure. $3 mill in my super would be more than enough to keep me in retirement in a manner I am not accustomed to :o. Reality is my super fund keeps telling me I'm not going to come anywhere close to 1/6th of that

Reckon those people who do the "swap meet circuit" do it pretty tough.
The condition of their vehicles and sleeping arrangements look very basic.
Maybe if they are on a pension, they just buy crap off facebook etc and try and turn it over for a little sneaky cash.
They certainly are not wearing white shoes...and I'd be thinkin' 3 million would be wet dream material for them.
But who knows, never judge a book etc etc

I was umming and ahhing to myself this morning whether or not I should go. Just had a feeling bargains would be in few and far between. Decided to barter online instead for those odd few pieces and after reading everyone's comments I'm glad I stayed in bed. I did recently go to the Richmond swap meet and picked up a couple of things - Hk big nut MC minus lid and bail ($200). HK wheel brace ($5) and HR dizzy ($10)

Has anyone been to the coming Lithgow or Oberon Swap Meet next weekend and can offer recommendations which one to go to? Anyone bought Holden parts from either swap meet in the past?

There was a whole HT/G (or late HK) booster at Morisset with a big nut cylinder on it, I knocked it back at $350 as I thought that was twice as much as it was worth.

I had a better look at the HZ 5.0L distributor I picked up - it is brand new. I just thought it had been cleaned up but it is NOS, even has original new points in it. I didn't even look at numbers on it until I got home, just knew it was a red V8 one and worth it for $10. Should stick it on Ebay as a NOS HZ GTS/Sandman or LX SLR/SS A9X distributor!

I also went over . I have thrown stuff away that was better than most of what was there. But I guess some found exactly what they were looking for. LoL nearly bought a wool pillow :)

Jeez if I had over 3kk$ in super I can’t see myself begrudging an extra few k of taxes. Or just take it out of super and put it in to toys.
