Have members here had as much trouble that I have had getting a new battery for their xu1. The old battery was century 41 that had been in the car for eight years, so I was told by certain outlets the equivalent where ac delco universal fit, repco brand and their so called guess at a battery that would fit because century 41 is not listed in the newer catalogue now. Some of these experts asked was it a 253 or 308, which shows me their knowledge on old stuff and telling me what they think will fit for a sale. Totally stuffed around!

For my XU-1 FB ute I just went to SC and picked out the frOck off biggest Century with correct terminal positions that would fit. Just take a pocket tape and pick one out. The bigger you get the more plates, the more power.

Mate this is a original xu1 that I have had for 40 years, not fitting in some oversized doggy battery.

ok so maybe that sounded a bit glib. Guess what I am saying is measure your old battery and go get one the same size.

I’m not sure if the battery trays are the same size for LCGTR and LJXU1.I use the AC Delco battery maintenance free .That Repco one looks like a great option .old school.

Paul, LC & LJ GTR came with the big battery tray same as S & SL models. LC & LJ XU1 both have smaller battery trays.

Hi Warren,

The current Century Battery Catalogue has incorrect listings for the LC/J XU1 & 4 cyl. Toranas, but I believe they still make the #41 battery.

I did a search and found that Autobahn stock Century and many stores have the #41 battery in stock - in your case Rothwell, Brendale & Virginia are all showing stock on hand, and cheaper than the others @ $179.00. I purchased one at one of my close stores today and it was black with caps (which help a lot if you are wanting to do a LUCAS lookalike conversion.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

JPXU1

I sent a feedback advice to Century Batteries advising their current listings are incorrect- see if I get a response.

For those in Sydney, I purchased a Century 41 from Batteries Direct - Quality & Competitive Price Guaranteed of Peakhurst in March this year. They had to get it in the next day for me, $156.
