Thanks Bruce. Confirms my opinion some people were advising other people who were silly enough to consult Facebook, the blue ones were higher pressure and causing flooding. Yet another myth.
Cheers man.

Flooding caused by Holley Blue pumps was well documented back in the day.

For anyone with Webers, use a fuel pressure regulator as they work well with between 2.5 to 3psi. The maximum that the needle and seat will tolerate is between 3.5 to 4 psi. Beyond that the fuel will push past the needle and seat at cause flooding and fuel leaks.

I've found that Malpassi regs work well.

I meant to say supports my view, not confirms it. Documented that replacing the blue pup wih glass bowl type eliminated the flooding issue or just vchk commy 6 flooding, or just 173s John?

Figures above show what I assume is the glass bowl pump at 4.5psi Max and blue at 3.9psi. There are a least a couple of variations I've seen on the later pump. Wonder which one these figures represent, and is any difference to the others. I've run this type on varajet 202 many miles no issue. Maybe they have a better needle and seat thn stromme.d821ae29fcd79bdf3b0827880e92d852.jpg
The bottom part of this type is practically identical to the old AC type as far as I can tell. I have used one on my 179 with the glass top substituted for the metal one. I did have a flooding issue, which I resolved by replacing the brass needle and seats with viton ones. It was a fresh set of x2 carbs. Rebuilder should have put the viton ones anyway. That shat me. Sorry for the rant....

I know others running SUs straight off the blue pump, no reg. I thought they were fussy on pressure.

A real long time ago, a regulator was recommended with a Holley Blue. Not everybody at the start realised the 7 psi or so was too much for the Strommies. So they "saved" money and blamed everything except reading the instructions. I personally have only run factory GMH pumps on Holden 6's, except for the VK EFI.

With a std late model pump I used a needle valve in the fuel line to bleed some pressure off otherwise one of the SU's would flood, later I used a proper regulator set at 3psi.
