Looks like an absolute peach! Super tidy bay and so much better than satin black.

Some of those repro wide Sprintmasters would really finish it off. :P

It’s orange, looks like a GTR. Might be a good car to turn into an XW7?

You are probably going to get comments saying you don’t need the chokes. I’m working on maybe just choking the centre one, or if the factory cable isn’t long enough then maybe the rear. Main thing I need is the pivoting wire clamp for the choke lever. They are on eBay.

I’ve heard it said a few times, and finding it myself using an o2 fuel meter
If it starts easily without a choke, it’s probably a bit rich.
Me and the local old fashioned local hardware shop owner who knows what he has in his shop
and what it all does — and has cortina’s with webers came up with this idea.

5mm threaded screws with 2 nyloc nuts will do the job.
Drill a small hole just small enough for the choke cable to pass through as tight up against
the underside of the screw head as possible, and wind a nyloc on there almost tight.
Put choke cable in place through it’s spot on carb or carb(s) and the screw in it’s hole in choke linkage bracket.
Pass inner cable through little hole in screw, clamp it tight with nyloc nut.
Wind second nyloc nut on from other side of bracket just tight enough to not lock the whole shebang right up.
Cable can’t pull out, whole thing swivels nicely

Nice car liswar, looks like a beauty
Hope it behaves itself for you

Another good idea here from ljv8 a couple of years back

https://www.gmh-tora...triple-hs6-sus/

I think my idea is easier for the common lazyman though

Clamp it with nut on left side, tighten up nut on right side just enough
so it doesn’t grab and can rotate, but doesn’t wobble too much either

Thanks for posting that link. It reassures me I am on the right track pursuing proper function of the chokes. I ordered three 375-128 MG MGB MINI CHOKE CABLE TRUNNION & SCREW CABLE STOPs off eBay. Total outlay about $27. That pales in comparison to the rare spares xu1 cable block setup though.
