It's on the Service/Warranty Report as BETSBAC 42101C0. Engine number is recorded as you stated. Completed 5/10/70 and sold in 12/70.

42101C0 simply means:

2311

2250/138

4spd manual

Conventional steering (0 here as no option available)

Drum Brakes

3.08 standard

Conventional ventilation (0 here as no option available)

Just a correction, I read the coding wrong, it’s a 3spd manual not 4spd.

Good. I was wondering who would have ordered a 2 door, 138, 4 speed.

I think GMH ordered it Col, but as a 3 spd. It looks like a Stock Order car. Mosman Park assembly.

I thought Mosman Park assembled cars had a “P” Stamped on body plate?even being a knocked down version from east?

Mossman Park and Dandenong assembled LC Torana have Elizabeth Chassis and Body numbers.

The PSN prefix is the tell tale as to which plant the vehicle was finished at.

Depends on the Series and how they are built. And what happened when. Mosman Park was only a VAP and didn’t have a BAP. Acacia Ridge, Pagewood, Dandenong and Elizabeth had both BAP and VAP. The BAP created the painted and hard trimmed bodies and then the VAP assembled the vehicle.
So Series dependent all Mosman Park vehicles got at least a BODY plate from the BAP (which afaik are all Elizabeth). And they all got a VIN plate from Mosman Park.
Depending upon when the chassis number was applied it determined whether the chassis number belonged to the BAP location or the VAP location. As LC had the chassis number applied at the Body plant stage (same as HK-HG) it got an Elizabeth chassis number. Mosman Park HQ got a Mosman Park chassis number and Compliance plate.
This is the same as most Panel vans and cab-chassis, plus LC assembled at Dandenong and Pagewood. Except Pagewood LC are Acacia Ridge bodies, but same deal.

You DO have Elizabeth bodies (up to LC and HQ) assembled at Mosman Park. They all are. Dandenong and Pagewood LC are exactly the same (except Pagewood LC bodies are Acacia Ridge). Same as Panel Vans assembled at Dandenong. You know its Mosman Park, Dandenong or Pagewood by the PSN. This one is L637654, so you know its Mosman Park. Same way if it wore J198319 you'd know its a Dandenong Assembly.

Elizabeth PSN sequence commences with L1 through L5

Mossman Park PSN sequence commences with L6 through L?.

Dandenong PSN sequence commences with J1 through J9

Acacia Ridge PSN sequence commences with H1 through H4

Pagewood PSN sequence commences with H5 through H9

Just a couple of technicalities:

Elizabeth continued through L599999 and kept going. Never bothered checking if they just kept going as far as L999999 again and reset again - remember Elizabeth was still making cars up until the end of VF.

I don't know exactly where Mosman Park finished as the last group of HQ Service Warranty Report printout wasn't microfiched. They missed a pile of printout. Which started at Elizabeth around May 1974 and includes all L prefix PSN upwards from there, which includes Mosman Park.

I don't think Dandenong ever got to J999999 by the end of VL which is when Dandenong stopped making Holden - they did continue with Nova and Corolla though.

Acacia Ridge reset to H100000 during HZ.

Can't remember if Pagewood hit H999999 by closure in 1980. Will have a look at some of the Pagewood VC I have recorded.

To add to the above.

Dandenong did reset to J100000 during VL. I have a January 1988 Dandenong VL, J155062.

Also, Pagewood reset to H500000. I have a 7/80 Pagewood VC H542562.

The latest Mosman Park I have is an 8/72 HQ L66203x.

How the hell did you come into all this knowledge Dave?
Did you work at gmh and steal a computer full of info?
I appreciate the man and his personal obsessions, but I still boggle at
how you have access of these kind of out of date records
Folks can give you shit and call you a you a rivet counter, but it’s very cool

Thanks for the pat on the back Bruce. It's a passionate obsession like all kinds of hobbies are to others.

I must admit though, the knowledge and info I hold on GMH pales in comparison to the things Yel327 shares with all of us.

It’s clear you’ve put a lot of time into gathering up such a collection of info

You’re both very bloody clever

Hats off

It’s not clever (at least on my part!). It’s a combination of:

Engineering brain.
Inquiring nature.
Being around and interested enough when a lot of these were new or near new.
Time spent researching and obtaining copies of original GMH material.
Working in a big manufacturing business with the same generational technologies as GMH used, similar logistics challenges across multiple plants across Australia.

The above combined with a passion for Holdens.

There are others out there with 10x the knowledge about GMH as I do.
