]Hey guys, early next year am thinking of selling my Torana which is detailed in my build forum "LC Triples" (daughter wants to use as a wedding car late December this year). As this forum has been so helpful during the build and members are so knowledgeable, was wondering what would be a fair and reasonable price.

PROS:  full bare metal nut/bolt restoration, everything either replaced, renewed or reconditioned where needed.

              Its a 2 Door LC/LJ!

No ID tags which would make for a perfect track/drag car, as cutting,  into shell for tubs, roll cage ect would not destroy heritage or history of vehicle.

Replica LJ XU1, more affordable than the genuine article.

CONS: Painted in Acrlyic, not 2PK

Identity crisis of being an actual LC but has been turned into an LJ (started by previous owner)

             Nil ID tags.

No heater, but air conditioning is included via vent windows :clappin:

I had a figure in mind but would like some feedback from members so see if i am in the ballpark, and realise at the end of the day, the car is only worth what someone is prepared to spend, and value of classic cars has diminished somewhat from the height of pandemic.

Have attached three photos as a guide, but obviously more are in my forum.

Thank you in advance: Paul.Attached File  767.JPG   96.18K   3 downloadsAttached File  710.JPG   140.66K   4 downloadsAttached File  746.JPG   28.68K   5 downloads

Great little car Paul. If I was in the market it's the sort of car that would interest me, as I would turf the 202 and convert to 308. I also like the colour. But I just signed up to buy another investment so am out of the market for a while!

Thanks mate, any idea what something like this would be worth in todays market, not sure if nil tags would detract from sale price or not,?  and yes, colour makes for a great wedding vehicle, have used in three so far for friends and family! paul

What the market is, who know? Hard to judge as no ID tags upsets some people and will detract from its value. If it is as good as it looks, I reckon $25k-$35k would be my target range. I reckon I could sell the complete 202, rebuild the 6cyl box as a V8 box and fit a 308 using stuff I already have in the shed. Biggest costs probably would be the Engineering plus the custom tailshaft and the rebuild of the banjo with a V8 yoke and Trutrac. Others might say more but hard to know? I do know that I'd never buy and build the car for that sort of $. Hopefully that helps your pondering on price?

Hi 25/30k is way to low,  you cant buy a coupe shell for 25k unpainted, but no id tags are an issue with a lot of buyers, never the less you seem to invested a lot of money judging by the photos, the car looks great so u sell it as a gtr xu1 look a like, i think its worth around the 60k mark, simply because its ready to go, it just needs a heater box, thats my opinion, good luck after the wedding when you decide to sell

Thanks Yel327 and LCK186, i had a figure of $50-$60K based on what i have seen advertised at the moment, appreciate your input and i do have a heater box that came with rolling shell i started with, but never got around to restoring/fitting it, plus i wanted a nice clean engine bay. Was even going to fit an aftermarket hot rod style heater/demister. When i do get around to selling the car will come with all spares i have accumulated over the build. Appreciate your comments, paul

It's good to get the varying opinions. Will be interesting to see what interest you get. Hope it's closer to $60k for you. I still reckon the lack of tags will scare off 7/10 buyers though.

Possibly, i brought the project sans tags, and at the time was only worried about getting it registered which was never a problem, and wasn't even thinking about selling back then. But you know how life goes: weddings to pay for, interest rate rises, too many classic cars to fund, happy wife/happy life ect, ect  :fighting:

Hi Paul, sad to hear you're selling your car.  Like I say, the best part is building them and the people you engage with!

I'd say $50,000 is a fair price that should get it sold. A nice LC S  just sold recently in Perth, not quite as good as yours and it went for $30,000. Some people don't care about tags and numbers as long as it looks good and drives fast.

Good luck with the sale.

Marty

Thanks Marty, you were a great help and source of inspiration, my heart is really with HR's which was my first real car, and i have a sedan project to fund to go with a wagon i went 1/2's in with my brother. I might even start another thread under "Non Torana Project Builds and Plans" Will keep you posted, Paul.

Thanks Gene, appreciate that. I dont want to cause controversy, open a can or worms, go down a rabbit hole cant get back out of again (have run out of analogies)  but i think $50K is a fair price given the amount of time and money i have spent on the car. I certainly didn't do this project to make money, it was a labour of love and i have learnt so many skills and techniques i can utilise on HR sedan project. Cheers and thanks Paul

Hi Paul, I'm also of the opinion your LC/LJ is worth 60K.
