Keen to pick up a LX hatch and this kind sed genuine V8, but the trim isn’t great. What are these actually worth? Have driven it, it goes hard for a 253 auto. So obviously my inner hoon is keen lol
*looks like, not kind sed sorry
Oh, and carsales is saying it’s a great price so that’s why I’m asking

Don't worry about the trim, that is cheap and easy. It's the body you have to worry about. Hatchbacks are very rust prone. Can be fixed but that will probably mean paint and you don't get much done panel and paint today for $25k. So depending on how bad the rust is, will determine if its overpriced or not. If it has bubbles (as the ad says) it means there is rust, and that means paint. Just depends upon how bad it is. Have a look at Hawk's threads about fixing bad rust in these cars, will give you an idea about where to look. I had one of these in the 90's and it had rust: next to the hatch hinges, under the hatch rubber above the tail-lights, under the bonnet hinge brackets, under the battery and in the plenum on the driver side. Plus doors.
My opinion it is over-priced, but all Aussie coupes are when you compare to what you can get in a Mustang or Camaro. But as above it might be $79k but factor in rust repairs and paint if it needs them.

Never good to offer advice on cars via web photos, but at first glance, compared to what I have seen recently ( online) it appears to be priced pretty reasonably?
Negatives- its a 253, it's an Auto, not the best colour ( purely subjective), it has evidencevof rust.
Positives - it's not a 202, the ID plates suggest it's a factory V8, it looks cool, it's a Hatchback, it's a V8.
I'd just take along your favourite fridge magnet and run it all over the areas ,as suggested above, likely to be bogged up ( not saying this car is bogged)...but you occassionaly see those Hatchback shells that have been sent to the sandblasters and once the paint comes off....ouch.
If I was looking for a Hatch, reckon it would be worth a serious look.
Paint wise, I'd flare it anyway, so paint is a given.
$79k is big $$ for an old car, but that's where the world seems to be.
2 cents

Hi i went through the photos and it looks pretty good rust wise, it states that it was totally restored some years back,2011 as for bubbles that doesnt mean theres rust, heat sitting in a garage will eventually create bubbles, as for the price in todays market i think its priced fairly, im sure the owner will negotiate if you are interested, Hatches are hard to come across, good luck on your hunt

Any 70's Aussie coupe is going to cost you upwards of 70K.
Just look at the price of HQ & HJ's and Ford XA-C's. Even LC & LJ 2 doors start at 50K, let alone a GTR.
Like it or not that is what you are going to have to pay if you want one.
I think the only reason this one has been on the market so long is due to the current cost of living & rising interest rates.
Will prices drop in the future, who knows. Past history says no.
Do your homework carefully, even pay someone to inspect it for you and if you have any doubts don't pull the trigger.
If you buy it, I'm sure you'll be the happiest chap in town.

Yeah I lowballed him at $65k and he said he’s not interested in selling it for less than $70k. He said for $70k and a quick sale he’d sell it as-is but he’s not going any lower. I’m keen but I’m already a bit stretched.

I was very interested in this car before I got my bargain. (Bargain??? LOL)
It was on my short list as a well priced tagged V8 mate.
