The shoulder of the metering needle should sit flush with the face of the air valve.

I watched that. !! Saw him using a screwdriver to push the damper down lolI wouldn't be letting him anywhere near my triple Strombergs.

Pushing the air valve down with the screwdriver wasn't on my radar. It was the other uninformed rubbish he was sprouting about the set up specifics of the 175 CD2-S XU1 carbs and one fundamental failure he made.
When balancing multiple carbs and setting the idle speed it is important that you disconnect the throttle linkages from each carby so the adjustment of the idle speed screw on one carburetor does not affect the other carbs.
