I'm currently building a 1956 FJ sedan, fitted with a HR front end with PBR cast Torana calipers & HR drums rear. It is fitted with a HR pedals & master cylinder on the firewall & a VH44 remote booster. I've ditched the master & intend to fit a dual circuit master, now there are adapters to fit HQ style, but I've already fitted a Wilwood clutch master, so it gets a bit busy with the wider flange on the HQ master. I can fit a 1" master from a G60 Nissan, that attaches similar to the HR.  What size master should I use without a booster?

I suspect that you will need a lot of peddelpressour to stop it if you deleate the booster regardless of what master you use. 2 feet to stop is never a fun drive!   May be better to run the front through the booster and play with wheel cylinder sizing on the back to ballance it unboosted rear to boosted front on a dual system. Then a 15/16 or 1 inch master may work

A mate runs unboosted landcruiser front calipers using a TF Rodeo 4cyl master. I think rears are ford calipers. 300hp FB sedan.

Dron, the master I removed is 1", 15/16" sounds closer, which should make up for no booster.

Thanks Clay, but the attachment flange is horizontal, I need it vertical, similar to the original earlier Holden.

In the short term, the car will only be a track car, until I gather enough gear for some interior.

I'm no expert on manual brake systems but I believe often the master will be even smaller than that, 15/16" may still be very heavy? You make up for a lack of power assist with an increase in pedal throw to keep the effort reasonable with a better hydraulic lever ratio.

That style of Datsun cylinder comes in various bore sizes... so there are options to try and change as required

Thanks Neil, I have a 3/4" version that I removed from a 620 ute or 180b, I can see another at the back of the brake parts shelf, but I need to move the LJ to get to it.
