Random question.  Anyone know what (or how it was applied) the silver/chrome is on an LC/LJ instrument and lower dash edging - paint/ink or something else?  I hear some say it is metalisation vapor deposition but there no sign of any copper metal substrate to deposit the silver metal, beside vapor deposition should last decades and we all know that doesn't happen.  However this process may have been done on other cars at the time.  To me it looks like the layer of chrome paint or ink is rolled on the edges.  This could be done as most of the edges are on the same plane. Prehaps (pure speculation) that there was a fixed long rubber roller in a bath or paint/ink and the panel was then simply passed over the roller.  This would ellimnate the need for masking and most importantly cost effective.

Love to here what other know.
