Okay so my new acquisition has presented its first challenge, i.e. the ignition barrel. The key spins 360 degrees unhindered.

Step one, steering wheel removal. Do I need to take out the spring loaded bit for the horn before I try to pull the steering wheel?

Leave the centre nut on by a couple of threads. That way you can work the steering wheel loose without it coming off and hitting you in the face.
