I have got to wondering if I upgrade my Haltech Platinum GM Sport to an R3 with a new 355 I am building. Has anyone on here gone to the R3? The GM Sport is a great plug and play puter, but doesn't have the features of the R3 and I want to update the stock Commo wiring too, as it's getting old. Another option would be a Elite 2500, however they seem to be being phased out. I can get good coin for my GM Sport.

So, has anyone done it with a Holden 304/355/383? I have questions. :-)

Hi Sam,

I haven't tried one but have been browsing and it looks like there is a replacement for the Elite coming soon called an S2 or S3 I think.

Might be worth checking out.

Haltech have a bunch of good YouTube videos

Yes, the S3 looks okay, I guess I am figuring R3 in case I change set ups down the track. Good call though. Just wary of all the extras, such as sensors, connectors etc and I can't seem to find many Holden 355 examples. Looking in the wrong spot I suspect. Thanks Tom.

I have an elite2500 that I'll use to run a fairly simple turbo 355 and T400 combo.

No help to you since I haven't finished it but the 2500 will do everything I need and still has Haltech support.

I'll be converting to 8x coils and likely DBW throttle as well.

I couldn't justify the extra for the Nexus but I'm sure that will bite me on the arse later.

Thanks GreenHJ, I am just thinking Nexus as I want to go a standalone engine harness (fans, EWP, fuel pump, etc all on one loom) and the Nexus makes that easier. The 2500 is still a great bit of kit. I don't like the feel of DBW throttle, but do want to consider 8x coils. Geeze it's a rabbit hole though.

Since you're in sydney, get in touch with "Tuned by Dale" and talk to him.

He works closely with Haltech on development, can do full custom wiring looms to suit what you want and is a gun tuner as well.

8x coils is "easy", put a VT distributor in it, job done. No reason not to do it if the ECU is capable.

If you haven't done it already, download the NSP software and have a play.

I've gone the other way and kept dirty old relay logic for my EWP, fuel pump, fans etc since its already in and working fine and I'm a luddite at the best of times.

Ah great, thanks for that, I will look him up. Just what I am after. Yeah, I have that all working on relay fusebox too, but want to simplify/refine it all. And then never do it again. Ha ha. Thanks again.
