Have just had the 202 removed from my pre 78 torana and found it was cracked in 3 places on the manifold side of the block so am going to re-block the engine . This engine was built originally by Brough race engines probably 20 years ago approx and was fitted with a roller cam and lifters using bronze sleeved lifter bores . I also had a roller cammed 202 built for me years ago and that engine also was fitted with bronze lifter sleeves .
I have just half taken apart a 186 fitted with a 235 stroker kit and roller cam , but there are no bronze sleeves in this ; these cam followers run directly in the original engines cast iron lifter bores .
Been quoted between 2-3000$$$ to have a block machined and bronze sleeves fitted , so is there any advantage in going this way instead of leaving the lifter bores standard ?
Also..................is it possible to line bore a 186 crankshaft tunnel to take a 202 crankshaft ? .............l have a brand new/unused 186 block .
