Was wondering if anyone has hooked up a charcoal canister to triples? It’s the last piece of the puzzle for engineering and I’m struggling to understand his rhetoric. I have two types of canisters that i can use, first one has 4 ports - carb bowl, fuel tank , PCV and Carb. Small little spring and rubber seal that opens up with vacuum i think. Was told from H series and toranas.

Second one has 3 ports carb tank and purge was told from LH torana. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Peter

4 port is for carbies without a purge port, they use ported vacuum to operate the canister. You find them on 1/75 to 6/76 Holden, Torana and Statesman. 3 port suit ADR27A style carbies with a purge port.

Remember the canister catches vapour from the tank and the carby fuel bowl. To do this both the tank and the carby bowl need to be sealed. Quadrajets vented internally hence why 5.0L cars with canisters had one canister port blocked with a bung. I very much doubt triple SU’s have sealed bowls (not vented to atmosphere), if they do you’ll need to connect all three to the canister and find a ported (manual) vacuum port on at least one of the carbs to operate the canister.

There are a lot of different SUs. Mine are HS6 and have ported vacuum. Bowls are removable. Mine are simple vent to atmosphere which you could probably drill and tap.

Where would the fuel overflow go if your needle and seat got stuck open?
How do the sealed fuel bowls function regarding the airspace above the fuel level?
