Couple of m20 boxes here have different yellow painted factory codes 2 letters on them , any info appreciated thx wazza .
GL is a 21 B 73
ZA is a 7 thinking 77 as it’s got the later selector inspection cover.
Thoughts?

That was B 1 73 for the GL

The ZA has 2813496 lx., which means 3.05 2.19 1.51 1.00 , ratio , both boxes are 1-3.5 turns so expect the GL I put to be the same.

GL is M20 6cyl from that 1973 era. So cars like LJ  and HQ.

 

ZA is probably that later 6cyl M20. ZB is M22 6cyl (WB), AB is WB 6cyl 3spd, ZE is V8 M21. ZD is V8 M20. Not sure what is ZC.

The code would have changed with ADR27A with the addition of the 4th gear switch

Codes are on the boxes (or the plate on the box if auto) or on the Broadcast Sheets. I think the auto codes are in parts catalogues at the front.
