had a look at an LX yesterday, am looking for a new daily driver for when i sell my business
it was an "S" LX8VB69 which was an original 253,M20,3.08 bango, but now has a 173(which runs spot on), 3 speed on the floor,
its got a big brake booster, quite crap interior, but the body work is pretty damn good, quite straight and only a bit of rust in bottom of front guards

it rides on jelly beans with new retreads  , has tinted windows and the colour is aquarius(17778), dont know what the trim colour is called, the code is 1426 60V

i could probably get it for 1500 bucks, good buy do you reckon?

Check it all over for hidden problems. The worst thing buying a cheap car is it might need double the buying price spent on it. But if you are confident in it buy it as it looks like a reasonable price.

Cheers

It really depends on what you plan to do with it, I picked up a LH for $480,factory air it's got good interior fairly straight panels but some rust in the tops of the doors bottom of the rear window and rear drivers side quarter , the motor and trimatic had seen better days as well as the frontend need looking at, I had a 173 sitting in the shed so put that in cost was about $50 for some new gaskets and a can of rocket red spray paint, rebuilt trimatic to V8 specs $600, frontend fixed $435,new exhaust (standard off the shelf) $145, 15x6 mag wheels $100, rebuilt the rear brakes cost under $100, I have to replace the front springs new one's from pedders will cost me $140, all up it's cost me just over 2 grand and I still have to get tyres. Try and get it as cheap as you can, offer them a $1000 buck as they might go for it or meet you half way at $1250

Cheers Chris.

If it isnt registered and or hasnt got a rwc, then the costs of getting it on the road could be very high. If you feel the motor has intrinisic value, and the rest of the car is in very neat condition, then maybe, but otherwise, unless you check out all the key roadworthy mechanical items, it may be a liability. Basically if the paint and interior are less than average, and no rwc or reg, then less than $600.
