Hey guys,
I've got a VN V8 fuel pump/pickup in the drop tank and my standard UC wiring going down there. I need to run a fuel gauge for obvious reasons, but i cant because 1) they dont connect and 2-) the ohms required for commodore may be different to UC Torana and therefore give me an inaccurate reading.
Has anyone fitted a commodore V8 pump and pickup to their tank before, and if so, what dramas did you come across and how did you overcome these?
Any info appreciated as i would like the tank in asap.
Cheers

This link is useful for finding the resistance ranges of various senders for different models and makes: http://www.apamfg.co.....rt Poster.pdf
It lists the vn specs as the same for the uc, so it its not going to fry your uc gauge, but whether you get linear readings etc......dont know.

Ok, so by going off that chart, the comodores (VN - VS) have the same sender for an LPG tank and obviously it'll have the same ohm range with a standard petrol tank as they wouldnt fit something they would then have to modify... I'd like to know more. If it's just a case of putting an adaptor to the sender from the tank to mate up with the UC fuel gauge sender, it's a pretty much plug and play issue...
And if thats the case, then my drop tank could be going in sooner than expected...
Cheers for that devils..

Hi Guys.
The UC Torana fuel sender has the same specs as VB to VS Commodore.
That is - 282 Ohms Empty, 97 Ohms Half & 40 Ohms Full.
You're in luck Keith, what that means, simply translated, is any fuel or LPG sender that runs a VB to VS fuel gauge will work perfectly with your UC Torana gauge.

Hi makka.
No, the LH/LX senders are 73 ohms empty, 25 ohms half & 10 ohms full, same as late HQ, HJ/HX/HZ & also WB (commercials).

Next question... Does anyone know somewhere that sells adaptors from the commodore sender to mate up with the torana plug?
