Ive got a 4/71 lc gtr which had a plain cast master cylinder.

I know my car hasnt been on the road since '93 but not to sure if the master had ever been changed.

Ive seen the old holden advert pics of an lc gtr with a cast master and a big nut but was that the same thru all the lc gtrs or did they change to the alloy pbr or the plain cast without a nut?

Any thoughts would be good as im about to overhaul either the plain cast one or the alloy one.

Hi

I am sure someone will chime in if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that the following is correct for the LC (note the cap rounded on each end). I am pretty sure that "big nut" MCs in one form or another went right through the Torana range.

The one below is for the LJ

10 out of 10 Bazza!!!

GTR161S I have a 4/71 XU1 and when I bought my car it also had an aftermarket MS. I managed to find one with the correct cast date in need of resto on ebay. It cost me $160 to get it resleeved.

cheers

Alloy ones are aftermarket replacements
Neither is better than the other but the cast one looks more original if thats the look your after

ok it got the better of me, i cleaned up my cast m/c

underneath between the 2 pipe ports is cast the number "1" & letter "F"

stamped on the end is 6612 (pbr item number?) then 6A T.

What does it all mean?
