Went to get some new tyres today for the front of the hatch.
Went to a reputable dealer who is a large tyre distributor and bought some tyres.
they were very helpful in choosing the tyres and the service was pleasent.
picked up the tyres(they are off the car)and put them in the boot.Took them out at home and put one on the ground and the wheel weights fell off.
was a bit pissed off at this as i just paid for them to be balanced.

took the tyre straight back to where it was done and let them know what had happened.
they balanced the tyre straight away, fair enough, but no apologie,no sorry about wasting your half hour of driving to and from here,no i find out who did this and have a word to them.
not even a goodbye when i left.
If that was me,my boss would have kiked my butt and made me apologise to the customer.
Its something small i know, but just the thing that pisses you off for the rest of the day.
End Rant

Please dont name the store publically here.. But i can definitely understand your frustration!

Just remeber this little rule...

the 6/12 rule..

Give a customer good service.. and he'll tell 6 of his friends.
Give a customer bad servie and he'll tell 12 of his friends!!

I just wish more businesses thought about this when dealing with customers!

I also went to a wheel known tyre place to get a puncture fixed they told me to come back at 2pm to pick it up. I did and when i went to pickup they could not find my wheel.
They told me to come back in a hour, i could could not be bothered driving all the way home then coming back so i went to mcdonalds had something to eat with my daughter.
We were going to go to Soverign hill the next day anyway i went back still no spare and they said we will call you when we find it and they took photos of the wheels incase they had to get another one. They thought they may have given it to someone else and they should notice and my answer was yeah they will notice next time they get a flat!!!!!

The next day at 12.00 they ring and say they found it they had given it to someone else so i went and picked it up and the charges for fixing the tyre was $15:00 bucks but he gave it to me for $10:00 wasnt that nice of him :furious:

At the end of the day it was the last day of school holidays and me and my daughter did not go anywhere as we did not have a spare.

Well wont be going there again.

what type of wheel (rim) was it. correct me if im wrong but some knock on weights dont suite some wheels (ie alloy) and should really use the stick on ones if clearence permits.
oviously you should be informed of this prior to commencing works but there is a lot of this type of thing that goes on.

Can see where you're coming from... Last time a tyre joint annoyed me was when I parked and one of the guys there came up and asked what I needed done, 'swapping this tyre to the other rim here' I said... I asked him how much, he swapped them and the manager guy told me to come with him to the counter where he charged me roughly double what the tyrefitter told me?! I just never go back to places that screw me around as a rule of thumb! Hope you get better treatment at the next place you try Damo!

Dont worry,i wont be goin there again!
The wheel weight was a stick on one because it was on one of my hotwires.
I have already told about 30 people,so hopefully the word gets around.
Should have seen the look on the other customers face when i told the guy behind the counter what happened.

Tiny-no names were used in my story, cos i didnt want to get the forum in trouble!

Well, i suppose i can say a good thing about Tyrepower in Ferntree gully....

i took a whole heap of tyres down to get swapped over from different tyres and wheels etc. When i picked them up and took them home i realised that they had put the wrong tyres on rims etc. I just gave them a quick call, they were very sorry for the problem, i took them back down and dropped everything and fixed up the mistake! Very good blokes and its no wonder i have been back there a number of times since

I also have had problems with a large name tyre store.

I started using this place because they were a lot closer than a previous place i used. The previous place always just stuck the wheel weights on the outside of the Sprintmasters. Ugly, but easy. I wasn't too bothered.

Anyways the new place stuck them on the back. Now partly it was my fault the first time, but because i gave them the rims without the car, since i had the stockies on, and couldn't be without the car for even a day, they stuck new tyres on and balenced them.

I picked them up and bolted the back two on, but when i got to the front i couldn't get them on. The weights were fouling on the calipers. So i bolted the two stockies back on, and took the car down there. The fixed it and i picked the car up.

Anyways after driving the car for a few months i started getting a brake shuddering problem (which i still haven't managed to fix :fool: ) and so pulled the front wheels off. First thing i noticed was one of the wheel weights had a massive groove in it from where it had been hitting the caliper. I did find the brake pad shims had been put in the wrong way round on the drivers side, probably when i got the brake place to put the spacers in the calipers to run the XU-1 slotted Discs.

So back to the place i go. Once again they fixed the problem.

At Winton i pulled the Sprintmasters off again to put the 'racing rims' on. And again there is a slight groove in one of the wheel weights.

So back to the place i go.

This time they mount the wheel weights on the front on the very inner edge of the wheel. So now there not hiting, but if i want to rotate my wheels myself i will have to take it back to them cause the wheels on the back i know will foul on the calipers if i stick them on the front. :furious:

It helps when the part owner of the tyre busines is your good mate! Central coast tyres do all my stuff, nice blokes, funny bastards and helpful as. They know their stuff and are cheaper then anyone else around.

LXDamo: I realised that and thanks mate! You did the right thing!

We're always happy to hear about the horror stories, and the best way is via a private message for anyone who's interested to know the exact name.

But Yep Definitely not on the public forum!

Cheers guys!
