Looking at a shift enhancement mod and perhaps stronger bits for the LC`s auto,

has anyone ever done a home job on a auto?

I think you will find that a TH180 is basically the same as a Trimatic, not 100% sure though

Hi milco,

The running around i have done looking for info on this has kind of been a deterant in regards to a home job

what i have come up with so far is that what i am after is

A piston for 1st from a late trimatic, as the design was changed to improve the strength, this will be machined so two rings slot onto it rather than the one, thus preventing fluid passing piston. this is the alternative to purchasing a high performance one worth $130, that has the two rings

two additional clutches in second and third gear, the spacer plate will have to be milled to make the extra room

I have also been told there is no such thing as a over the counter shift kit for a turbo hydramatic 180, but it could be mocked up, and performance would rely on the skill of the person who is building the box. this is fairly straightforward i have been told, some drilling, springs and valves.

for the above i was quoted $800, Sounds a bit steep to me, going to learn as much as i can so i can walk into the transmission shop and tell them specificly what i want done, in the hope they will think i know what i am on about and do it for a good price

Anyone know autos?
