I think any bigger than 16's look a bit silly because its such an old classic (little) car.
Poor picture of my 16 inch rim:

those 16s look pretty good, are you still running torana stud pattern or have you changed it?I've currently got 16 inch rims. They look pretty good, but I want to change to 15 inch. I prefer 15 inch.

I'm currently running sprintmasters. But there are several reasons for the thought to change, 1 its getting hard to find decent 13" tyres 2 fit bigger brakes. Actually thats the only 2 reasonsdude, put sprintmaters on it. will look sweet

I have toyed with the idea of fitting larger brakes all round and also to make it ABS

Yes, still running torana stud pattern.those 16s look pretty good, are you still running torana stud pattern or have you changed it?
They're late model Holden Astra rims, but the offset is way off for a standard diff. I run spacers on the front (with longer wheel studs), and I have a longer-than-standard borg warner diff in the rear. However, before getting the BW diff, I used a standard diff with a couple of spacers either side with longer wheel studs. As you can imagine, its not the most ideal setup. But I got the rims cheap.

I'm pretty sure my tyres are 205/45/16 size. The car has lowered (2 inches?) pedders springs... but it doesn't have a motor or anything in it at the moment so its sitting much higher than usual. Yes the gaurds have been rolled (well the inner lip hit with a mallet to be more accurate).what tyre size do you have on your torrie LHOON? im looking at 17's for mine and dont know if they will fit. has your car been lowered? gaurds rolled? etc
You could easily fit 17s... but you'd need much lower profile tyres - 35 or even 30 series?

The larger the wheel the more it will weigh, adding to the unsprung weight.
This isn't a good thing.
Don't be surprised when the bloke with the funny little 13" wheels goes round the corner better than you!!

In my opinion you can't beat an LC/LJ with the 13" or 14" deep dish style wheels like the race cars used to run!
I have sprintmasters on my LJ, and still love them, but I have to admit I'm toying with the idea of something like a 14x7 or 14x8 minilite style rim. Does anyone know of any links to photos of such a wheel (or similar) on an early Torana?!
Cheers!
