A 4 core? I doubt a shroud is gunna help that much...I'd be looking at the motor itself.
Dodgy thermostat, wrong temp thermostat, perhaps the radiator cap isn't holding pressure?

There is a dozen things that could cause overheating. and with a 4 core radiator i doubr your problem is anywhere in that area. There could be a reastriction in the flow of the water around the engine somewhere (i would have a look at the heater maybe?). otherwise poor ignition or valve timing could do it. is the exhaust in good nick?

check out the "cooling system now working" thread in the engine forum posted by lxss. looks like it could help you. he had an overheating 253 and fixed the problem. he could probably help you out with anything you needed

Also check that you still have a spring in your lower rad hose to make sure it isn't collapsing in on itself!! Mine didn't have one in it when I bought it, and it liked to belch water.

There is a radiator shroud listed on the Rare Spares website, its fibreglass and description says "A9X type".

The HQ-HZ plastic type hits the fan, probably because of a height difference between the radiator and the engine.

Any more details on the overheating? When driving hard? Revving high? Normal Cruising? Is it leaking any coolant? What is the coolant/water mix? The more details you give the more things you can rule out. Hope it all goes well though. I know how annoying a hot (overheating) 253 can be. Has it been bored out by any chance?
