Hey guys,

Some of you may have seen me ask the question in other non specific threads.

3/4 race cam.

I understand it is a matter of interpretation, but mate came round today to help change timing chain today and re-assemble my motor in the shed.

He came with all the gear and seemed to have a better idea than me at what he was doing.

The cam apparently is a Billet custom grind and is been dialed in 2 degrees advanced. (as we were trying to match what was done buy the engine builder originally).

My question is, does any body know what the cam would be equivalent too, in crane or crow. Or have any idea what sort of application it would be suited too.

Mate said it had 273 thou of lift at 65 degrees bbdc on no1 lifter.
pretty sure thats what he said.

anyone know much about it from that? what are standard specs?

Is it about 3 parts a race cam. :P
Thanks

these figures (at 65 deg before bottom dead center) arnt doing much for me, you might try measuring the total lift and also your rocker ratio for a better comparison.
at the end of the day if it works for you just make the specs up to impress the locals, it worked for me, i built a hot stock 253 once and nobody believed it was stock except for the usuall bolt ons and a baby cam, so i told people it was stroked and everything and they were happy.

hmmm, must be wrong.

Has a rough idle. I was reading the indicator and just had to tell him when it was going down, may have lost count.

Was reading the Crane specs and they have mild to hot cams with similar lift?

It is a red motor? Not EFI.

Dunno, might just put the motor in the boat and start over. Thinking of puttin a 253 back in it and running some form of forced induction.
