After taking the dash out cleaning it, and puttin it back in. The tacho will only rev to about 4,000 rpm which it then stops.

Any ideas?

Dont remember if it worked when I got the car and havn't had it hooked up since it got painted.

I *think* the switch on the back of the tacho was on 8 when the dash was pulled out. Put it on 6 when it went back in, seen that it stops at 4000rpm, put it on 8, checked again, still stops at 4000rpm.

The engine does continue to rev when the tacho stops.

I had that exact problem in my LX. It ended up being the 4-6-8 selector switch. I resoldered the contact patches for the selector switch and made sure that the lever had positive location in each position (not sloppy). Check the circuit board under the switch on yours. I'm not sure why this was causing the 4000 cutoff in my car but I did the above and the problem was gone.
