hi guys
just wondering if i was to get a HQ stub axle, and rotor and mount it on the front of the UC how would that affect the offset of my wheels. ie will they be pushed in towards the x member or out towards the guard, or is it the same a standard torana? it would be nice to know as with the 17's they have to sit jjjjjuuuussstttt right or they scrape and take chunks of paint of.

cheers

The bolt up face of the HQ disc sits about 5 MM further in. This effectively reduces the front track by 10 MM. But when you take into account the offset differences ( 13x5.5" Torana +32, 14x6" HQ +13 ), it actually increases the front track by around 28 MM. As a 13x6" ( +25 ) rim is a factory option for LH - UC Toranas, it is legal.

Please note that this doesn't take into account the 2 degrees difference in KPI between the two stub axles. This could result in further track alterations. The above example only takes the differences in the discs into account.

thanks chop, the plan is to get them redrilled to torana pattern and run 17 inch rims, (which are on the car now). thinking about one of those ebay kits as posted in another thread, as they seem good value, and im sure ithers want to know what they are like.

cheers

Then buy the discs undrilled and make sure the centre bore is turned down to 2.5", so it matches the Torana centre bore.

I thought that the BUF sat further out with the HQ rotors when compared to LH-UC Toranas?

putting hq stubs on a torana will give you more negative camber, putting a torana stub axle on a hq will give you less negative camber
