Not half bad at all!!

The first shot doesnt quite carry the look, but the second and third ( probably cause of the lighting) Look awesome!

Awesome depth of field in the third shot! i think that's what makes it look more real because i think its mostly the scenery that looks un-natural!

Top stuff !

yeah i went to the local Remote Control car track to try and get hte scenery right.

i have a few more. Just have to resize them. I might print off some old Holden and Ford banners to stick on the barriers in the brackground.

The thing thats hard to change is the road surface. i just cant get in fine enough!

I am redesignin the cover of the A9X DVD so these shot will be used in it...

and of course ill show u all when im done!

any other ideas? or even some old pictures of the banners etc i could have to print off!

Looks awsome. The only thing that kills it for me is that the track appears too big for the car and the thickness of the gravel. It would be good if you could get a a slight motion blur happening (send it down a hill or something)

Seeing you dont own the scenery makes it alot harder too!

I think the ripple strip is a bit too wide... usualy theyre no more than a 1/3rd the width of the car.. and yeah.. the gravel looks a bit coarse! Though ive gotto say that the last photo you posted above looks really good ( even with teh size of the gravel!)

I wonder if you could use some lighting to brighten the side of the car? ( Ok.. i'm not a photographer.. so this is where i'm just guessing!!)

Yeah, i was going to take the photo's in the studio, that way i could have done the lighting and everything the way i want it.... I have to get a new keygen for photoshop as mine carked it! So when i get that i can change a few things and get the image to look even more 1970ish!

Yeah i should be able to photoshop a bit of a blur in the scenery as well. I dont really want to push the car as its worth a fair bit of cash lol!

If only i owned a 1:18th scale bathurst Circuit! Then it would be perfect! I also want a raised ripple strip.... Do you know if i can go to sandown and actually take pictures on the track? Or even another race course with ripple strips etc, and i just photoshop the car onto the track?

But so far im really happy with how they have come out! The Little Brocky model in it really makes hte car look real!

Hey guys,
I agree your up against it a bit with the scenery not being yours, umm
....... I'm no photographer either, could you maybe use wet&dry paper
of whatever grade u think to simulate the road surface you want. Cut to
the shape of the corner you may also be able to lesson the width of the
kerbing. Maybe not? just thinking out load :D Really like the last 2

photography is good but as stated the scenery is letting you down big time.
maybe try wet and dry sand paper with slotcar track ripple strip back filled with dirt.
and can you blur the wheels for at speed feel?
keep up the good work. :spoton:

maybe you could use some charcoal to create some skidmarks on the road, stuff like that too.. it makes it all the more authentic!!

i suggested dirt because of its fine texture (for scale) but if you can find fine sand all the better.

Try this:

Try twitching (quickly move) the camera to the left or right so that the car becomes slightly blurred in the pic to simulate motion.

and/or

Try getting someone with a cigarette to blow smoke at it from the front to rear along the ground and take the pic at different angles.

Cheers,
Rick.

yeah to similate motion, all i would do is get a helper to hold a bit of scenery behind the car and move it while i take the pic... Then bobs your uncle...

Ill have to try some shots in the Studio...

Slow down your shutter speed just a tad and get someone to roll the car through the photo. Play with lighting and that a tad more and you will probably get it spot on. The wet and dry is a good idea to. Try not to put to much light facing directly on it as it might become to reflective. Good Job though!

Cheers

Try going along to a Group C race meeting and photograph the real thing, sure its probably not what you need for your project, but you would love the sight and sound of the cars in full flight.

I think your photos are awesome and I wonder if you could borrow some more cars from other forum members to put in the photo. Brocky sure was good, but he wasn't always a mile in front.
