As part of the Sunday morning pre-race tribute the front row of the starting grid in 2006 will be left vacant as a dedication to his achievements at Mount Panorama. Brock still holds the record for the most pole positions with six starts from number one on the grid.

All V8 Supercars competing at the event will also be supplied with 05 decals, the number that Peter Brock raced in that was retired by the sport in 1997, to apply to their cars.

The parade cars and drivers:

1972 Torana XU1 Craig Lowndes
1975 Torana SLR 5000 Greg Murphy
1976 Austin A30 James Brock
1978 Torana SS 5000 Jim Richards
1979 Torana SS 5000 David Parsons
1980 Commodore VC Phillip Brock
1982/83 Commodore VH John Harvey
1984 Commodore VK Larry Perkins
1987 Commodore VL Peter McLeod

No the original 72 XU1 wasn't written off, that was just someone on EBAY trying to make a buck off Brocks death. Obviously whoever put the list together really didn't know the cars that well as they have the A30 listed as 1976. SS5000 was the factory term given to the A9X race shells, so technically it's correct. The 1975 car will oviously be a replica, but I wonder which one it is as I know of 2.
