Ok i think you are talking about the HOLDEN on the A9X race cars.

Going on my biante model.

Its a slab serif type face. Very Similar to 'Rockwell Extra Bold" But the proportions are a little bit different. Squash it and tweak it a bit and you wont be able to tell the differences. The only difference i can pick is the serif's on the letters and a bit thinner and longer.

The problem is that the Race cars probably didnt use a specific font when the decals were made. It was probably based on a design from holden. So the other letters in the alphabet wouldnt have been made with it only H O L D E and N (but i could be wrong) But in the 70's the majority of stuff was drawn on the drawing board and not on the computer...

You might find a closer font if you search for 'Slab Serif Type faces" on the internet
