The LC grille is kinda flat looking, so I was wondering can you swap it for a LJ grille easily?

I wouldn't do it if your LC is a GTR but it's been done many times before...
New sections are welded into the area beside each headlight and then you just need to swap your headlight surrounds with LJ ones and fit the LJ grille - I've heard it's easier to convert the front of the LC to LJ than people who wish to go the other way (LJ to LC), the front quarters are supposed to be slightly different there...

Your right, LJ to LC is a no go. You would have to hack up the guard quite a bit around where the headlight surround wraps around the corner.

Do do it you would need the bits between the surrounds and the grill off a LJ, (which I will have in about 2 days). They usually just have 3 tack welds and then lead wiped smooth.

And why are you changing LC to LJ. I love the LC grill. :)

PM me if you need the parts, I have everything you would need.

Thanks guys, that's cleared it up. Just need to know how to weld and have a grille.
I was in the process of buying an LJ but that got messed up. Then I came a cross a good condition LC but was too late to snap it up.

Each to his own, but the LC grille reminds me a of an oven rack. The LJ grille is extended in the middle and looks like its going somewhere.

Best bet would be to take the whole front sheetmetal off and swap for an LJ front.....

they did it a lot in the 70s, to make lcs look like the newer ljs, so i imagine it cant be 'that' hard.

I can :P

I have done it and I tell you its not a fun job :P Be good if they bolted on panels not welded everything on.

You have to destich the tops of the guards, around the top of the nose cone, the destich down the corners of the guards, then take off the doors to get to the rears of the guards to grind away the welds.

Big job. I did it cause some knob of a panel beater put a LJ guard on my LC and nothing lined up.

Why would you want the barbie doll LJ grille? Stick with the tuff grille. After all aren't muscle cars meant to be steel?

i als o prefer the LJ grille, as i sit in my room looking at posters of Steve Leerentveld's awesome LJ and Alan Kirk's immaculate LC. Personal opinion, but i think the LJ grille/headlight surrounds look tougher, even if the grille is plastic.
