What a weekend!! 11 crashes on the first untimed run and about 15 for the weekend..unfortunately my mate Barry Singleton ..ex F5000..had a jammed throttle on his F2 March and ripped the right hand side off!!..Chris got 2nd I think behind Jim Hodgson in the 66 Shelby Fastback..I was 10th in Invited...lots of Sierras , Golf GTi, BMW etc so I was a bit out classed..next year I will tick the NC box!!..Barry said I left it open so they just threw me in with the others!!.. On my times I would have been 4th in NC ..smoked most of the GT Falcons and Mustangs on times..got into the 69s!!!...Thats pretty good!!..Finally got the launch perfect and swallowed my balls and started sliding through and out the other side under power in the corners!! Bondy is right!! It is faster!!Car ran like a jet all weekend..just loved it!! Chris asked me for some "Start ya Bastard" for his Ford late Sunday afternoon..gotta expect that from a Ford I guess! Plus I told him...my drivers seat is on the CORRECT side of the car!! (Thats going to get a response I am sure!! )
To Aquarius LC and Ron and the guys that dropped in for support..again..thanks..hope you like seeing the beast in the flesh!! :spoton:

Congrats in keeping it out of the walls Rory...and so the bug bites deeper by the sound of it...

"next year I will tick the NC box!!!"

Something troubles me about that statement....
Quote from CAMS rule book for 5th category(Historics)

Mechanical modifications are permitted subject to the following restrictions:

The original type and design of cylinder block and crank case must be employed. The bore may be increased to a maximum of 1.5mm, the stroke must remain standard as specified for the make and model.
Dry sump lubrication systems are not permitted unless fitted as original equipment (lubrication may be modified and additional cooling provided).
The original type and design of cylinder head casting must be employed; it may be modified provided that such modification is achieved only by the removal of metal.
Electronic ignition devices are not permitted unless fitted as original equipment.

So if you do manage to convice the scruits that your Tory came factory with a 308, better yet that they are actually looking at a straight 6 in the engine bay(and just there vision is blurred) Come over to my team.. I can use Talent like that!!!
I think you are most likely stuck in the "invited" category with a car like that..

Cheers Greg..

Greg,
Over 5000cc NC here has 7 entries..Invited had 25..I think they are saying...Oh bugger it!..Let him run with Mike Lightfoot and the big boys..Maybe he will put the wind up them!..Pretty casual up here in sprints and hillcliimbs....not at all like the Gestopo at some southern meetings..tho having said that..if I get too close I would expect to get flicked really quickly!! lol! It will be intersting with the new L34 car as I am doing it to Group C specs..and will tick the G3 box...tho it is not log booked...Then we will really see if thay are going to promote a new class ...only runner here is a Cooper S in Group C.

Hey guys,
Was great to be there Sunday, 4 toranas including Rorys beast. For all you guys & girls who have not seen Rorys car in the flesh, let me tell u, it's nice... Real nice, sounds sweet aswell!!
Rory you drove well mate  Hooked up nicely & seemed well balanced, could see u were struggling for traction a little though :tease: :D
Was good to meet you aswell.
As a torana lover it was also awesome how well Bruce Dummett [XU1] & Glen Wesener [LJ GTR] went in Historic Nc, To get down into the 65-66's respectively was a top effort.

Here are a few pictures:

Nice one, Rory.

As they all say, if you feel like you're on rails, you're probably not going fast enough. Gotta slide a limited amount.

Keep it up.
