Fancy seeing you here ole' pal.

So much room for activities (/Mantas) in the shop after your rust bucket departed a few months back.

From the drive up to Canberra.
Full rat style now, probably time for a wash for the first time in who knows how many years 😄

Should get the first drive with the TKO in next week :)

Hope your Manta activities are making good use of the extra space Heath!

Big fan of this TKO600. Along with the 3’ chrome molly tailshaft and 9’, I think the drive train is pretty bullet proof now and ready for some fun.

Did a little round the block, 650km drive yesterday to get the run in period out of the way quickly!

Bit of hiway, and an awesome drive up into the high county and national parks west of Canberra. As a bonus I picked up a mint new bench seat for a great price.

Muncie was getting 20ltrs/100km of LPG at 90kph @2,900rpm. TKO with the engine timing way out was getting 18ltrs/100km, 2,000rpm @110kph, and remained at 18ltrs/100km through the low speed windy country back roads and hiway on the way back.

Fixed up the timing now, sorry Heath no more intake key bangers scaring people throughout town . So should see the above figure drop a bit I think as it’s running 100 times better.

Tunnel all welded up, so a bit less breezy and quieter now.

Managed to get a JTG Liquid LPG injection setup from an LS1 as these are finally starting to show up secondhand as the tanks are needing testing. Only been wanting this setup for 10+ years! Hopefully get that installed some time next year.

Could this be the first Liquid LPG injected Torana?

So read LXCHEV’s double knuckle post and sore 10min job, so got parts and jumped in.

After a 3 day battle, double knuckle mod complete. The words “cotter pin” shall not be heard or muttered within ear shot for some time I thinks!

Doesnt take a whole lot to break the cheaper 2 inch g clamps.

I was buying the cheapies thinking they would be okay.

Broke 3 in quick succession without a lot of tension.

The better (lots dearer) ones I replaced them with have stood a lot more abuse.

Ive got about 20 of the 2 inch ones in different spots around the workshop as well as some lots bigger.

Can never have enough of them.

Cheers

Rob

I use a pitman arm puller with a small quarter inch steel plate that has a hole for the cotter pin to pass through, makes short work of it and no more broken G clamps

The sliding F-Clamps seem to be quite a bit stronger than G-clamps.

Was looking back at some of the early photos of the car when I first got it and was feeling a bit nostalgic!

13’ SL hubcaps back on now :)

All slop in steering gone and back to being a pleasure to drive. Except the Detroit locker racket, might be time for a Trutrac? Anyone else gone locker->Trutrac?

I went from one of those 4wd Systems Lokka units to an Eaton Truetrac (with Harrop housing to fit the Borg Warner). You get used to the Lokka operation but on occasion it was a little clunky. Other than improved manners the main thing with the Truetrac is that its much better for cornering traction, the rear of the car doesn't want to step out and overall you get more forward drive. The only down side is the price.

Wow what a change!

Only done the drive home from the shop so far, but this TrueTrac is worlds apart from the locker.

So much better and a pleasure to drive as I was hoping.

Seeing as we were in there and I have the overdrive from the TKO now put in some 4.11’s too

I was gonna say geeze you're getting soft.

Oh, 4.11's? I take that back hahahaha. What is you cruise rpm @ 60mph?

Is yours a 0.82 or 0.64 overdrive?

HahaHaha

It’s a .64 overdrive so revs should go from 2,000 to 2,200 at 100kph, I’m happy with that for the extra get up and go :)
Yet to be confirmed as apparently no freeway till it’s all run in.

May go a slightly taller/wider tyre so that will bring it down a little.

I don’t think the 205/60/15’s will like the above changes they were already struggling a bit from the TKO’s higher 1st gear to the Muncie anyways.

Should be good, I have the tall overdrive too and at 1800rpm I was having to shift down for some uphills, its closer to 2000rpm now with the 3.91 diff which is an improvement.

Weird... my calcs said it was going to be ~2200rpm with 3.91's so that's what I chose. I also have the tall overdrive.

Well, don't listen to a word I said again. I just ran the numbers again and mine will cruise at 2,000rpm. Slightly taller gears and a bit more rolling diameter than your girly little 205/60s.   :spoton:

Dems fighting words mister! I suggest we settle this with a duel!

On the track! (You know with the little one and all need to be more responsible these days, so best if we don’t involve pistols)
