Got busy in my newly cleaned shed today....I repaired an LH
console...the one with the flip up front pocket..that always snaps the hinges. I followed the article about
console restoration and got to improvise a bit too. I had another buggered
console to chop bits out of and a couple of tubes of Araldite I set about filling the holes, fixing cracks, making moulds for broken corners and gluing hinges back together...at the end of it I painted it in gloss black and (i think) it looks pretty good.
I didn't have a good armrest that was covered in vinyl..I have a couple of good ones in cloth..so on it went...but why are the hinges ALWAYS off centre..I dont think I have ever seen a
console lid/arm rest that closes properly.
The front pocket hinges were a bit of trial and error...must have had them on and off a dozen times..but they work well now..you just have to be gentle and don't have the little hinge brackets done up tight...leave them a bit loose.
What do you think?
